New Passenger Terminal

The Texarkana Regional Airport (TXK) is constructing a new 40,000 square-foot passenger terminal to meet the travel demand of the flying public and provide a modern and appealing facility for its passengers.

The location of the new terminal will be across the airfield and adjacent to the airport’s aircraft rescue & firefighting station. This location allows for passengers to have a more streamlined entryway and direct access to Interstate 49. Amenities will include room for concessions and expansion opportunities for more airlines and facilities. The new terminal will also contain two (2) enclosed passenger boarding bridges, which is something the airport has never had. The aesthetics of the new terminal were designed to coincide with the natural state of its location by having plenty of timber finishes and giving the public a relaxing lodging experience.

The terminal project is being funded by federal grants, the cities of Texarkana, Arkansas and Texarkana, Texas, the Texas Department of Transportation, Arkansas Department of Aeronautics, and passenger facility charges. Construction is projected to be completed in 2024. The consultant on the project is McClelland Consulting Engineers, Inc., The architect on the project is Wittenberg, Delony, and Davidson Architects, and the Construction Manager/General Contractor on the project is Nabholz Construction.
